Multilingual and multi-region systems

We build multilingual and multi-region websites with the locales and routing in place before the second language or region arrives, so adding one later means entering content. Wee Wild Ones launched in English with French already set up.

Regional content for Whispir

Whispir's communication platform helps businesses reach people across global markets. Working with Green Stone, who designed it, we built Whispir's marketing site on Contentful and Next.js, with locale support for region-specific content in the content models from the start. Whispir's team can reuse sections across pages and expand the site without an engineer.

French routing before any French content

Wee Wild Ones runs a growing network of not-for-profit childcare centres and is preparing to expand nationally. We built English and French locales and province-specific routing before launch, while the site was still English only, so opening in a French-speaking region means entering content rather than rebuilding anything.

Adding a language after launch

Adding a language to a live site means reworking the routing, the content model, the CMS and every URL the site has already published. At the start of a project it is mostly one routing decision, so we make it early, even when the second language is years away.

Regions need the same planning. Make the Month, which we built with United Way of Calgary and Area, has since been customized for nine regions across Canada so that each version reflects local realities.
