This page sets out what we collect when you visit builtbyfield.com, what we do with it, and who else handles it.

If you email us, we have your address and whatever is in the message.

If you send us something through the contact form, we receive what you typed. That is your name, your email address, the name of your business, your message, and anything else you chose to fill in. We also record the page you arrived on, the site that sent you, and any campaign tag in the link you followed, so that we know where an enquiry came from. Formspree runs the form, passes the message to us by email, and keeps a copy.

This site runs on Cloudflare. Its servers keep ordinary access logs. An entry records the IP address that made the request, the browser and operating system it reported, the page it asked for, and the time.

We use Clicky to see how the site is used. It records the pages you visit, the site you arrived from, your browser and operating system, and a rough location worked out from your IP address. It sets cookies in your browser so that a return visit is recognised as the same one.

The Clicky script and the requests it makes are served from builtbyfield.com rather than from Clicky’s own address, so most ad blockers will not stop it. The information still goes to Clicky.

Five services help run this site. A request to any of them carries your IP address the way any web request does.

Cloudflare hosts the site and serves every page. Sanity stores the words and pictures and serves the images. Mux serves the still frames taken from our video work. Formspree receives what you send through the contact form. Clicky records how the site is used.

All five operate outside Canada, so information handled through them may be stored or processed in another country and may be reachable by the courts and authorities there.

We answer your email and the messages sent through the form. We keep the site running and look into problems when they happen. We read the analytics to see which pages get read and where people arrive from.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it, except with the services above, which act on our behalf, or where the law requires it of us.

Correspondence stays as long as the conversation or the working relationship needs it. We delete what we no longer have a reason to hold.

Server logs and analytics records are kept for a limited period and then discarded.

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct it. You can withdraw your consent to our holding it, subject to anything we still need to keep for legal or contractual reasons. Write to hello@builtbyfield.com.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you can bring a complaint to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
