Platforms and applications

We build custom platforms and web applications, such as learning platforms, resource hubs and member areas, when a team's workflow is too specific for off-the-shelf software. Each one is designed around the work people do in it and built so the team can run it themselves.
Replatforming the #HalfTheStory LMS
The #HalfTheStory curriculum lived on a separate learning platform, on its own subdomain, with its own content management and its own database. A teacher who found a lesson through the marketing site had to leave that site to use it, and a school could not sign itself up.
We rebuilt the learning platform inside the marketing site, on the same codebase, domain and CMS. A school can now register, invite its own teachers, manage its seats and pay through Stripe without anyone at #HalfTheStory stepping in, which saves the team hours of admin work each week. The platform launched on July 31, 2026.

The marketing site and the curriculum in one system, with self-serve signup for schools.
A resource shared across institutions
The Office of Global Learning at the University of Calgary needed to share training modules, structured curricula and best practice with international education staff at institutions across Alberta. The toolkit could not add a maintenance burden or lock the office into an expensive third-party subscription, and it could not feel like it belonged to one university.
We built it on Payload CMS, Next.js and Cloudflare, which handle sign-in without an outside identity service and keep running costs low. The UCalgary team edits the toolkit themselves, and by its soft launch in January 2026 they had already filled it with material institutions could use.
The Alberta Post-Secondary Global Learning Toolkit

When we build a platform
We build a platform when a workflow is specific enough that general-purpose software starts getting in the way. We work out the workflow first, then design the interface, then write the code, because changing a workflow is cheapest before any screens or code depend on it.
