We design annual reports and other publications for print and screen from the same content, and manage production through to the final file.
Annual reports
We design the Alberta Real Estate Foundation's annual reports, and we designed Enough for All's Report to Community. Reports like these go out on a fixed date, and the content is often still changing in the weeks before it, so the design has to take late changes without falling apart.
We design from structured content rather than a fixed page layout, so a late change to a figure is made once and carries through the whole report.
Print and screen from one source
Some reports are printed, some are PDFs and some live on the web, and many need more than one of those. We design every version from the same content and take production through to the final file, whether that is a print-ready PDF or a page on the client's site.
How we start a report
We start by working out what the report contains and how its parts relate, and only then decide what it should look like. When the layout comes first, the opening spread tends to get the attention and the pages after it have to squeeze into whatever it set up.
